Tired of snow

Ho Hum! This winter has been one of the worst on record….or at least on our record. Fast forward to Spring, Cincinnati Reds Baseball, Picnics and Outdoor Activities Galore. We are taught that we shouldn’t wish our time away, so instead of wishing it away, let’s use it to plan for the future. What else is there to do anyway, right?

If you are thinking about listing your home in the spring, now is the time to start preparing. First off, take a look around your house. With pen and paper, make a list of all of those indoor items that need repaired or replaced. Also, it’s never too soon to start spring cleaning. Dust baseboards, ceiling fans and give your stove/oven a good scrub down. Start with the small repairs first and work your way up. Fill in any wall dents/scratches and touch up paint in any area that needs it. Remove and re-caulk any areas that look worn, peeling or replaced. Start removing any personal pictures and fill in/touch up those areas or replace it with something decorative. De-personalizing your space is very important so any buyer can see themselves living there and not your family. De-clutter your home as this can take quite some time depending on how long you have lived in the home. Keep telling yourself this is less work you will have to do once the home sells and you pack up to move. It’s a very liberating feeling to boot!

For the larger items on your repair list, call on a certified/insured handyman. You will thank yourself that you did this when it comes time to sell. Doing this preparatory work in advance can save you from a bad inspection that can break a deal. You don’t want someone backing out of a deal over something small.

Make any upgrades that you feel will help boost your sell. Most people list their house in the spring, which amps up the competition for you.
