Just in time for football season. Take your kiddos to ‘The Hometown Huddle’ for some family fun!

Ryan Memorial Recreation Complex recently received some love in the form of “The Hometown Huddle” – a challenge course built by the Marvin Lewis Community Fund in conjunction with the Cincinnati Bengals and the United Way.

The Hometown Huddle is an NFL/United Way initiative that happens in each NFL market on the same day and is meant to promote volunteerism and create a lasting impression in the community. From building fitness zones and playgrounds to hosting youth football clinics, all 32 NFL teams are encouraging kids to get active for 60 minutes a day as part of NFL PLAY 60, the league’s youth health and wellness campaign. The Bengals’ own “Play60” challenge logo is right on the course. You can learn more about the Play60 Challenge here.

I can see where kids will love these obstacles – balancing over, under, and through… all while trying to keep good time.

In addition to the challenge course, the playground has new swing sets, a slide, monkey bars, and paved play areas around the playsets.

Don’t stop your park visit there! Take a walk down the nearby path and you’ll find a par course, soccer and baseball fields.

If you dare to proceed down the hill (paved but steep) you’ll find tennis courts and basketball courts.

You can also enjoy a dip in the large pool… when it’s the season for it.
